The purpose of this conference is to provide a forum for the exchange of information among academic researchers, medical care practitioners, health care administrators, the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory agencies on pharmacoepidemiological approaches to studying the efficacy and safety of pharmaceuticals. The conference will include invited lectures and submitted papers, posters and workshops.

The 14th International Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology is sponsored by the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE). ISPE is dedicated to advancing the science, methods, capacity, communication, public understanding and support of pharmacoepidemiology toward the end of assuring, promoting and protecting the health of all persons using medications.

ISPE Clinical Council to Meet in Berlin
The clinical council is the counterpart of the existing councils (academic, government and industry) with a focus on the clinician receiving, using and potentially generating pharmacoepidemiology information. It will serve as a forum for discussion of issues especially relevant to the individual patient and act as an interface between the clinician and epidemiologist. While those involved in such areas as evidence-based medicine, clinical epidemiology and academic detailing are an obvious target population for the council, it's activities are intended to be of interest to all ISPE members.

A Clinical Council meeting has been scheduled for Monday, August 17, 1998 from 17:30 - 19:00 hours at the 14th ICPE, Hotel Inter-Continental, Berlin, Germany. Please join us in our efforts to establish a clinical council.
